Lyçée Louis Pasteur Invitational Soccer tournament - May 26th 2012

We got invited to Lyçée Louis Pasteur’s city-wide Soccer(Futsal) Tournament on Saturday, May 26th 2012. With many people interested in this event, and this is a 5v5 match, so we decided to make 2 groups out of our Friday Soccer members.
There are 2 teams from our side. They are:
Jakarta Heat (Dark Blue):

Fajar Firmansyah
Aqsha
Muhammad Iqbal
Muhamad Arnold
Putra Simanjuntak
Abraham Bramantino
Taner Varisli
Bali Wave (Red):

Nazmi Shaarani
Kamiel Fransisco
Glenn Tanjung
Henri Adi
Orein Ferdinandus
Zulfi Arshad
Tecky Hakim
The way Lyçée Louis Pasteur arrange this tournament is to have 2 groups with 5 Futsal team in each of the Block, as there is 10 team that partake in this tournament. Each team will play 4 games against other teams in their r respective Block.
Jakarta Heat and Bali Wave are not in the same group, meaning none of us will play against each other, until Finals.

Here’s the rundown of the tournament’s rules.
1. Preliminary matches are 6 minutes x 2. Semi-finals are 8 minutes x 2. Finals are 12 minutes x2 (if I’m not wrong).
2. There is no break during halftime, just changing sides.
3. Sliding tackle are not allowed.
4. Any fouls committed will result in the opposing team earning free kick.
5. If the ball hits the ceiling/ any parts on the ceiling, will result in foul. Free kick is given at the spot under the area where the ball touched the ceiling/ any parts on the ceiling.
6. Goalie has a penalty box area of 3 meters. Beyond that area, the goalie will be unable to grab the soccer ball with his/her hands.
7. A goalie cannot catch a pass by a teammate with hands. Only after the goalie stopped the ball with their feet, then they can pick up the ball.
8. Walls can be used as an advantage.
9. Substitution is constant. There is no limit as to how many times a team can sub their players.
10. Each matches will be referred by another team from their respective block that are not playing. 1 person will be the referee.
Each of this condition will reward the said team with point(s):
Win - 3 Points
Tie - 1 Point
Lose - 0 Point

Which team qualifies for the Finals?
1. A team that has the highest points in their respective block.
2. A team that has the second highest points earned in their respective block.
With qualifications mentioned above, at least the 1st team will need 4 wins 0 lose (12 points) or 3 wins and 1 tie (10 points), while the 2nd team needs 3 wins and 1 lose/1 tie (assuming the rest of the teams already lost 1 match).
While 2 teams are battling each other, the rest of the teams are on the second floor, watching from behind the glass. There are many advantages to watch other teams play, as we can figure out their pattern and defense, and their weaknesses. However, the same thing can be said to other teams, as they will do the same against us.

Both Jakarta Heat and Bali Wave are confident with their team and players. Many of them are regulars that plays Futsal on Friday, every week or whenever there’s a Futsal announced at facebook. Each of us knows who’s good at defense, and who’s the most potential as a forward and such, there’s not a single doubt about our game.

However, as confident as we are, the tournament offered us the unexpected.
Bigger goals (as we usually play with floor hockey goal) renders our goalie’s abilities to predict incoming shots as the vulnerable goal area has increased.
Competitive opponents and disadvantages in heights and strength. They come here to win, and there is no mercy. I can’t remember how many times Arnold, Aqsha, Henri, Glenn, Nazmi, and all of the players got roughed up to the point that they all have bruises that also bleed a little. Even Zulfi got pushed out of the gym by the opposing team’s goalie. This futsal is different from what we used to play on Friday, where we usually walk a little and have slower pace, compared to the competition where people go crazy in 2 x 6 minutes game running and shooting and roughing up each other. All for the sake of winning.

Jakarta Heat won 2 games, but unable to go to semi-finals because of their insufficient points. Bali Heat won 3 games and Lose in the semi-finals at 4th place (no medal or trophy for 4th place, though). Note this, though, as we only prepared for this tournament a day before, and the fatigue level and the high and fast pace that are so different from what we used to.
In the end, everyone is happy that they can play and compete with many different opponents in one of their favourite sports: Soccer/Futsal. This is an experience that greatly boosts and motivate each of us individually to become better and prepare better for any incoming soccer match, or the same invitation, next year.
I hope you enjoy this article that I wrote. I apologize if the picture that I use are a bit awkward in term of angle and team picture, as I also participate in this event, and this pocket camera moved from one hand to another as each of us battle it out in the court.

(B.Reith)
Why we tryna live like, live like
There’s no consequences, quences
They tell us how to live right, live right
We get all defensive, fensive
It’s not the way that life works, life works
Sorry to bust your bubble, bubble
Every day, that, we don’t change us
Leads to more more trouble yeah
I’m not lookin’ for a copout, lookin’ for excuses
I’ve made those for my whole life
I’m ready for change, (ready for change)
Yea I’m really ready for change
Don’t know about you, I made up my mind
I ain’t playin’ games, we’re runnin’ out of time
We’ve made such a mess already
This ain’t the best I can be
So you can keep playin’, I ain’t got the patience
We ain’t little kids, no more, no more~
I’m a go and do the right thing, say yea
I’m a go and do the right thing, say yea
(PJ Morton)
Ooooh….
For once in my life, i’m a quit bein passive, passive
lookin’ for shortcuts and fast lanes
I’m a do whatever it takes,
even if it hurts me even if it breaks me
Tired of livin’ my life half-hearted,
never finishin’ what I’ve started
These dreams that I’ve disregarded
it’s time to grab hold again
I’m not lookin’ for a copout, lookin’ for excuses
made those my whole life
Ooh I’m ready for change,
Oh, I’m ready for change
(B.Reith + PJ Morton)
Don’t know about you, I made up my mind
I ain’t playin games we runnin out of time
We’ve made such a mess already,
This ain’t the best I can be
So you can keep playin’ I ain’t got the patience
We ain’t little kids no more, no more~
I’m a go and do the right thing say yea
I’m a go and do the right thing yea
For once in my life, my life, my life
For once in my life, my life my life, yea….
(B.Reith)
When my life is over
I don’t wanna look back and say
That i held it all back
And i got nothin’ to show for it no
I’ll let it all go now
So it all doesn’t go to waste
For once in my life I decided I’m ready for change
(PJ Morton)
I,
Don’t know about you
I made up my mind
I ain’t playing games
We runnin’ out of time
Made such a mess already
And this ain’t the best I can be
(B.Reith + PJ Morton)
So you can keep playin’ I ain’t got the patience
We ain’t little kids no more, no more~
I’m a go and do the right thing said yea
I’m a go and do the right thing yea
Don’t know about you

Runnin’ out of time
I’m a do the right thing ey, do the right thing, ey

You can keep playin’
I ain’t got the patience
We ain’t little kids no more
I’m a do the right thing ey, do the right thing ey
Do the right thing ey, do the right thing
(B.Reith)
